Prearranged Funeral Agreements - Excludability and Estate Recovery

Brian Vasquez of the Health Care Finance Legal Group of the Kansas Department of Health and Environment will discuss various issues relating to prearranged funeral agreements including what funeral and burial expenses are excludable, what needs to be submitted to KDHE to prove excludability, the Kansas Estate Recovery Units recovery of excess funds when the deceased was on medical assistance. Come with questions.

A Perspective on the Covid-19 Pandemic

Shelly Steadman, Ph.D, Director of the Sedgwick County Regional Forensic Center, will speak on how her office has dealt with the influx of Covid-19 deaths.  She will also touch on the role of the Forensic Center in investigating deaths.
